Pop some popcorn and get your feet off the sticky floor...it's "music from the movies" week! The contestants were treated to Quentin Terantino as their mentor, and strove to impress as if auditioning for one of his movies. And judges only spoke 2 by 2 since the lashing out of the public of last week's running VERY late and most of us missing half of Adams' performance. Who can we blame for the show running late...hmmm, who talks a lot and doesn't really say anything...hmmm...
Allison got saucy with "I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing", drawing comments referencing special sauce and BBQ sauce. Maybe it's her fire-red hair that makes us think of hot sauce?
Anoop redeemed himself this week with a nicely controlled version of "Everything I Do", and earned high praises from the (2) judges. Was it enough to keep him safe?
Adam was awesome as usual, but not quite as awesome as his previous few weeks. He sang "Born To Be Wild", but the judges (2 of them) felt that it was a very "Rocky Horror" version.
Matt and his forehead bump plunked themselves down at the piano and sang "Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman". For me, for you, for me, for you Dawg, I thought it was a mess. But what caught my eye was Simon dry-heaving while Kara was giving her critique...what's up with that?!
A spec-less Danny sang "Endless Love", pulling at all of our heart-strings. The song was OK, but couldn't help but notice his uncanny resemblance to Bud Bundy from "Married With Children! Put the glasses back on, Danny!
Crooked-mouth Kris was uncharacteristically uncharismatic with "Falling Slowly". I found myself Falling Slowly Asleep.
And Lil's "The Rose" was all thorns for me. But not all Poolies agree here. I got in some rather heated debates over this, but I stand my ground; I think she's in danger tonight.
Jennifer Hudson performed and reminded us why the "judges save" is in effect - she was a bright star snuffed out too soon from AI. Miley Cyrus made an appearance for unknown reasons. Oh wait, her "Hannah Montana" movie just came out! As Simon would say, "That was self-indulgent!"
This week's bottom three included Anoop, Lil and Matt & his little friend. Happily, Anoop was sent back to the safety couch. After a reminder from Ryan that the judges only have 2 weeks left in which to use their "save", Simon teased us that he may be tempted to use the save on one of them.
The moment of truth revealed Matt & company to be the least liked contestant. After singing his heart out one last time, the judges pow-wowed and decided he and his sidekick would be spared! Do you agree with this decision? Be sure to log onto my blog and vote tonight!
This means...two people will be going home next week, no other contestants can be saved. These Poolies guessed correctly that the judges would use their save on Matt, and will have 5 big points taken off their total scores: Hollie K, Heidi M, Penney R, and Noreen! Good job guys!
With that, all our scores stay the same this week except for them. Here are their new point totals:
Penney R went from 16 points to 11 points and is now tied for 1st place with Chris W! Ooooooh, how this little twist has shook things up!
Heidi went from 21 points to 16 points, excellent!
Hollie went from 23 points to 18 points - not too bad, sister!
And Noreen, a newcomer this year, went from 28 points to 23 points! She's in there!
Now, next week, two contestants will be kick out. The way that will work for our pool is the first person they name to go will take the #7 spot, and the second person they name will take the #6 spot. That's fair, right? And I will total them up accordingly.
So dust off your bell bottoms and Spandex, because next week is DISCO WEEK! Until then, this is Norma....OUT!
