3rd week results

Hello Poolies, and thank you for being patient in waiting for this week's results! It was hard leaving Ft. Myers Beach, FL, but I knew I had to get back to send out my recap! Well, that's the story I'm sticking with anyway.

This week was a trip down memory lane to Motor City, home of Motown. Berry Gordy and Smokey Robinson were kind enough to show the contestants around the Motown Museum, and Smokey mentored the group with their selections. The only contestant who didn't make the trip was Michael as he was too sick to go. Hmmm, could his missing the private jet trip and tour of the museum have given him a disadvantage this week???

I'm still a bit bleary-eyed myself after having gotten home close to midnight last night, and just finished watching the shows back. I was glad to see Simon and Paula in good moods, with Paula whipping out a coloring book and crayons from under the desk for Simon, and Simon drawing a realistic-looking mustache on Paula. They should both be sent to detention. I wonder what else she has under there...

I thought that Adam did an excellent job with his virtually a cappella version of "The Tracks Of My Tears", but thought he looked like a plastic "Ken" doll with a tan. And Allison made us question her age as she belted out a moving rendition of "Papa Was A Rolling Stone".. She's not letting any moss grow on her! Both of these folks drew Standing O's from Berry, Smokey, and Judge Kara. Bravo!

I was shocked that Megan avoided the Bottom 3 this week after her rhythmless dancing and being described as a "horrible train wreck"! I guess good looks do count after all.

Lil won rave reviews for her dress, but didn't have "a moment" with her song "Heat Wave". But at least Simon got her name right this week.

Danny chose to ignore Ol' Smokey's advice to sing the background part of "Get Ready" as well as the main verse, but did Okey Dokey Gokey anyway.

Anoop, singing "Oooooh Baby Baby" must have taken Ambien prior to his performance as he basically slept through the entire song, as did I.

Scott again used the piano as a crutch, singing "You Can't Hurry Love", and assured us that someone did actually tell him that he was wearing pink pants. I was beginning to wonder if people were starting to prank him!

Kris did well with "How Sweet It Is To Be Loved By You", guitar in hand, but Simon compared him to a Bus Stop, saying he needed "swagger and confidence". Like you, Simon?

Matt was deemed a front runner by the judges after singing "Let's Get It On". He was likened to a great pair of worn jeans. Not sure if that's a compliment, or a cue to go shopping.

The Ford commercial was pretty good, but why don't they ever let Scott drive the car???

Reuben Studdard sang a sweat-drenched song, ending up standing in a puddle. Smokey Link and Joss Stone sang a duet, and Stevie Wonder did a nice Motown montage.

Our Bottom 3 consisted of Scott, Michael and Matt, and left me scratching my head about why Matt was there and not mural-armed Megan. But justice prevailed and Michael was sent back to the oil rig.

With that, here are the latest point totals!

There is now a single leader in our bunch! With a scant 6 points, singing "You've Made Me So Very Happy" is Chris W!
Close on his heels and singing "I Can't Get Next To You" is Tim with 7 points!
"Oooooh, baby baby", Karen H and Chas are tied with 9 points!
Singing "You Keep Me Hangin' On", with 10 points, are Donna H and Stephanie!
With 11 points, singing "Three Times A Lady", are Penney R, Nancy, and Kelley E.
At 14 points, singing "Money" (we want it) are Kelly O, Connie and Jamey W.
At 15 points, singing "What's Goin' On" (we're clueless) are Rich E, Heidi, Phaedra, Rich H, and Tina H.
At 16 points, singing "War"(the battle isn't lost yet) is Anne.
At 17 points, singing "Nowhere To Run" (up the point ladder?), are Pam, Brad, and Rachel.
At 18 points, singing "I Second That Emotion", are Kyle S, Angela M, Heather, Amy M, Hollie, Lynn W, Katie E, and Mike M.
At 19 points, singing "Uptight" (relax!), are Becky and ME.
At 20 points, singing" Ain't No Mountain High Enough" (yes there is) are Kristy S, Kristie S, Patty, and Tony.
At 21 points, singing "It's a Shame" (yes it is), is Terri V.
At 22 points, singing "What Does It Take" (fewer points), is Kathryn.
At 23 points, singing "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" (not much longer will you be FINE), are Russ and Deanna.
At 24 points, singing "Don't Leave Me This Way" (sorry, you picked 'em), is Angela M.
At 25 points, singing "Mercy Mercy Me" (prayer won't help you now) is Noreen.
At 26 points, singing "What Becomes Of The Brokenhearted" (they rack up points), is Jen W.
At 27 points, singing "Upside Down" (from your points last year!), are the team of John/Lyndi.
At 30 points, singing "Quicksand" (you are sinking fast!), is Amy A.

Remember, if you haven't yet emailed me your vote for who you think the judges will use their "save" on, you must do so prior to showtime this coming Tuesday, the 31st! You may vote for any contestant, or vote that the judges will NOT use the vote at all. If you choose not to vote, that's your choice also, but no penalty if you guess incorrectly. The person/persons who guess correctly will have 5 points removed from their point total, which could really help some of us!

Again, sorry for the delay in the recap, but YOU try to type with a sunburn on your hands!

Until next week, this is Norma...OUT!
