1st week results

It was a great start to the competition, with the 13 contestants singing Michael Jackson songs and hoping we didn't think they were "Bad".

I want to give a special shout out to 2 very special Poolies who do NOT watch the show, but just had to get in it because they hear everyone around them talking about it and couldn't stand to be left out of the fun! So one made their picks by drawing the names out of a bowl, and the other by their pictures! Hey, their picks are probably about as good as any! Good luck you guys!

Last year's pool resulted in a 3-way tie for 1st place with Tina H, the wonder-team of John/Lyndi, and yours truly. Who has their eye on the throne this year? Maybe one of the above-mentioned non-watchers? Hmmmm....!

The judges (Simon) had plenty to say about the outfits chosen by the contestants, which is always a kicker since his only fashion choices are black, grey or white T-shirts. Lil looked like cotton candy in high heels, Megan looked like a mural wearing a sleeveless dress, and Alexis looked naughty in black skorts/black hose. But it's not about fashion; it's about singing.

Ryan delivered a real "Thriller"; announcing a new addition to the show - a "Judges Save" rule. How it works is if a contestant receives the lowest votes and is to be eliminated, the judges have a one-time only "save" they can use. The judges have to all agree to use it at that time on that person, and then it can never be used again. The week the "Judges Save" is used, nobody will be eliminated, but two will go the following week. I think this is a good thing; it will help thwart the efforts of the creeps at VOTEFORTHEWORST.COM. I can see the vote being used to save the likes of Danny, Lil, Adam, or Alexis. We'll have to see if they have to use it, and if so, on whom!

The first contestant given the boot and NOT saved by the judges was Jasmine. I wasn't too surprised by this; she has been a bit disappointing as of late, but cute as a button none the less. I'm sure Cover Girl will pick her up in a hot second. Only 6 Poolies pegged her in the 13 spot and have 0 points thus far! The rest of us do. Thankfully, nobody had picked her to win, but a certain member of my family racked up 10 points on her - OUCH!
Kanye West summed up Jasmine's cold booting with his hit "Heartless".

The second contestant to be spared from living in that dreadful luxurious mansion was Jorge. This is too bad, but I think it came down to song choice with him.

That being said, here are our point totals after the first week:

3 points - Penney R, Chris W, and Karen H. I'm impressed!
4 points - Beth H, Kelly O, Jamey W, Joel, and Tim. You guys are vets by now!
5 ponts - Jamie J, Nancy, Lynn W, and Rich H. No too shabby!
6 points - John R, Kelley E, Kerry V, Katie E, Stephanie, and Chas. Woo Hoo!
7 points - Patty and Tina H. Hang in there guys!
8 points - Becky and ME. I'm quite disappointed and ashamed!
9 points - Kyle S, Heidi, Angela M, Connie, Anne, Terri V, and Mike M. Not a great start!
10 points - Brad, John/Lyndi, Deanna and Kathryn. Hmmm...past winners tied with a newcomer??? What gives?
11 points - Rich E, Kristy S, Kristie S, Hollie, Tony and Rachel. Zoiks!
12 points - Heather. Maybe you're hectic life isn't suited to picking singing talent!
13 points - Noreen. Hey, you're new to the pool, there's still hope!
14 points - Pam. You're new too, I'll just shut up!
15 points - Amy M and Angela W. You guys aren't new, what the %#$%^*&???
16 points - Amy A and Jen W. Must be a "furniture" thing?
17 points - Russ. I'm speechless. I thought you watched the tapes???
